Distant Destinations

When I was growing up we always had a subscription to National Geographic. I loved that magazine! When it arrived in the mail I would devour it from cover to cover.

And the photographs! They ran the gamut from scenes from every day life, to disturbing images of human suffering, to breathtakingly beautiful beaches.

I remember one issue in particular that featured the islands of the South Pacific. There was a photo of a young Polynesian woman wearing a traditional sari and sitting on a black sand beach. I promised myself then and there that someday I would visit that same beach. I haven't made it...yet!

Today a young girl anywhere in the world no longer has to rely on a monthly magazine or a trip to the library to learn about distant destinations. All she has to do is enter a destination name into a search engine and she will have instant access to photos, maps, hotels, restaurants, and flight schedules.

Today, thanks to streaming services, we also have unprecedented access to shows on any topic. I find wonder in travel shows.

I highly recommend the following which are available on Amazon Prime:

2019 American Road Trip featuring Traveling Robert;

The Silk Road featuriing Alfred de Montesquiou;

Grand Tours of the Scottish Islands featuring Paul Murton

We live on a beautiful planet!

For since the creation of the world HIs

invisible attributes are clearly seen,

being understood by the things that are made,

even His eternal power and Godhead, so that

they are without excuse.

Romans 1:20 (NKJV)

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog. Lately I've been feeling very nostalgic about the 80s, especially the lack of social media. Back then if we wanted to know what our friends or family were up to we called them on
