Welcome to my blog. Lately I've been feeling very nostalgic about the 80s, especially the lack of social media. Back then if we wanted to know what our friends or family were up to we called them on the landline telephone and we had their numbers memorized.
Today we have these astonishing devices we can use to call someone on the other side of the world regardless of the time of day and then look up a good recipe for Buttermilk Pie.
It's ok to visit the past as long as we don't stay there. It is the past.
And He has made from one blood every nation of me to dwell
on all the face of the earth, and has determined their pre-
appointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings.
Acts 17:26 (NKJV)
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow
will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is
its own trouble.
Matthew 6:34 (NKJV)
So, we need to live each day as it comes. I find this easier said than done, especially when things aren't going well.
One of the blessings of growing older is that we do have something to compare and contrast with the present.
We can't live in the past, but can we bring good things from the past into the present?
I will not be confining myself exclusively to "all things 80s." I want to focus on positivity. I want to think about things that inspire wonder.
Why "80s girl?" I graduated from high school in 1981. I attended college from 1981-1985 and then I served in the US Air Force from 1985-1991. I spent the 80s learning how to be an adult in the world I was in.
Thank you for reading all the way to the end of my inaugural post. It is my intention to post twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays.
Until then, let's live this day the best we can.
Great post! I loved the 80's too
