Is a Picture Still Worth a Thousand Words?

I attended a family reunion a few weeks ago and of course we all took pictures of each other with our cellphones.
I commented to one of my aunts that we all have photos trapped in our phones, never to be seen again. She replied that she missed sitting on the couch with others and looking through photo albums. I agreed.
Photography has changed tremendously since the 80s!
Back then, we didn't have "Instagram;" we had "Instamatic!"
Before any special occasion , on checklist item was making sure we had plenty of film and flashbulbs. The battle was real!
Then, afterwards, we would drop our film off at the drugstore, or the cute, little Photomat booth, and wait. We did a lot more "waiting" back then than we do now.
Then came the glorious day when we could pick up our photos! There was giddy anticipation mixed with a little dread. Hopefully, we didn't have our finger, or the carrying strap, over the lens when we took the pictures!
Back in the 80s. when you looked at a photo you could be reasonably certain that it was an accurate representation of the subject matter at that time and place.
Photos may not have been flattering, but they were real.
AI is a tool that can be used for good or evil.
I actually resorted to using AI to help me create this website.
AI can also be used to manufacture fake photos to deceive people.
Meanwhile, I have joined the 21st century. Ii now go to the drugstore and print pictures off my camera.
Next, I might even conquer my technophobia and buy one of those digital frames and upload some photos.
There's just something about holding a photo in your hand.
I say, let's bring back photo albums!
Whether its a lazy summer afternoon or a cold winter evening, let's sit on the coucn together and reminisce over photos.
