You Are A Miracle!

A few years back I developed an interest in genealogy. A great aunt on my mother's side of the family had traced the line all the way back to an ancestor who had come over from Ireland and had fought in the American Revolution.

Tracing one's roots in those days before the internet was not easy! It meant going in person to offices of vital records to locate birth, death, and marriage certificates. It meant contacting churches and cemetery societies to locate the graves of family members.

I am so grateful for the internet and apps like Ancestry.com and findagrave.com! Thanks to these apps and others like them, I've been able to locate ancestors in a matter of minutes versus the weeks of months it took in the pre-internet days.

Most of my ancestors on my dad's side are buried in a relatively small geographical area; however, one of my grandmother's cousins ended up in the Texas panhandle. How did she end up there?

Did she marry a guy who grew up there? How did they meet? I have questions!

How did I end up where I am? A Midwest girl joined the Air Force and met and married a guy from Puerto Rico. We were blessed with a daughter who was born in Panama and a son who was born in Alabama. What are the odds of this series of events happening?

All because two hundred odd years ago, one ancestor from Ireland came to the New World to make his fortune. Other ancestors came from Ireland and Germany at various times. All these individuals came and married and had children and the children had children and then one day I was born as one of the children's children.

Each of us is a miracle. Each of us was born as the result of decisions made hundreds of years ago!

Your eyes have seen my unformed

substance,

And in your book were all written

The days that were appointed

for me,

When as yet there was not one of

them [even taking shape].

Psalm 139:16 (AMP)
